Sky is revisiting familiar stories from new perspectives this May, with the debut of true crime drama The Staircase – based on the documentary series and starring Colin Firth – and Steven Moffat’s new take on The Time Traveler’s Wife, starring Rose Leslie. There’s also a second voyage for The Flight Attendant and the return of Agatha Raisin.

Agatha Raisin: Season 4 (Sky Max, 8pm) – 2nd May

Everyone’s favourite PR guru-turned-amateur sleuth-turned professional private investigator returns with a new series of village mysteries to solve. Ashley Jensen (Catastrophe, Extras) once again fills the designer shoes of the sassy private eye, leading her marry band of misfits on three new cases: Love, Lies and Liquor; A Spoonful of Poison; and There Goes the Bride.

The Staircase: Season 1 (Sky Atlantic, 9pm) – 5th May

Based on the documentary series of the same name, Colin Firth, Toni Collette and Sophie Turner star in this dramatised adaptation of the true events that explores the life of Michael Peterson, his sprawling North Carolina family, and the suspicious death of his wife, Kathleen Peterson. Episodes 1 to 3 arrive together, with the remaining episodes arriving weekly.

The Murder of Sarah Scazzi? (Sky Crime, 10pm) – 8th May

On the 26th of August 2010 Sarah Scazzi, a 15-yearold girl from Avetrana a small town in the heart of Salento, vanished without a trace. From that day forward, Avetrana would become known across Italy as the scene of a cruel and bloody mystery. Who Killed Sarah Scuzzi? is the new Sky Original docuseries produced by Groenlandia and based on the book of the same name, written by Flavia Piccinni and Carmine Gazzanni (FandangoLibri, 2020). Over four episodes, the series reconstructs the whole affair, not only from a criminal perspective but also examining the role of the media and its sensationalism of the case and the stories of the town’s inhabitants. Mother Teresa: For the Love of God: Season 1 (Sky Documentaries, 9pm) – 9th May

Over three episodes, Mother Teresa: For the Love of God? takes viewers on a remarkable ride through the twists and turns of an improbable life, revealing the extraordinary truth about one of the most recognised yet enigmatic figures in contemporary history. Episodes arrive weekly.

The Blacklist: Season 9 (Sky Max, 9pm) – 11th May

Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and the members of the FBI Task Force have disbanded – their lives now changed in unexpected ways and with Reddington’s whereabouts unknown. Finding themselves each at a crossroads, a common purpose compels them to renew their original mission: to take down dangerous, vicious and eccentric Blacklisters. Guy Garvey: From the Vaults: Season 3 (Sky Arts, 8pm) – 13th May

Elbow frontman and broadcaster Guy Garvey is back to lift the lid on more rarities and oddities from decadesworth of TV archives. Featuring era-defining musical performances, long lost studio appearances and revealing interviews that have remained on the shelves for decades. Episodes arrive weekly.

Das Boot: Season 3 (Sky Atlantic, 9pm) – 15th May

The multi-award winning Sky Germany Original drama returns, following the tense struggles of a young U-boat crew as they engage in the Battle of the Atlantic whilst being hunted down by an obsessed Royal Navy Commander in a thrilling game of cat-and-mouse. All episodes arrive at once.

SWAT: Season 5 (Sky Max, 9pm) – 15th May

Former marine and locally born and raised S.W.A.T. sergeant, Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson is back as the last stop in law enforcement in Los Angeles. Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, he strives to bridge the divide between his two worlds and acclimate to his new duties as the legal guardian of a teenager. As the fifth season opens, Hondo is reeling from the aftermath of his decision to speak out to the press, and relocates to a quiet town in Mexico to reassess his life and professional future, only to find himself reluctantly drawn into one local family’s fight for justice. The Time Traveler’s Wife: Season 1 (Sky Atlantic, 9pm) – 16th May

Steven Moffat adapts the much-loved novel by Audrey Niffenegger for the small screen. Directed by David Nutter, The Time Traveler’s Wife tells the story of Clare (Rose Leslie, Game of Thrones) and Henry (Theo James, Divergent), and a marriage with a problem… time travel. All episodes arrive at once.

Escher: Journey into Infinity (Sky Arts, 9pm) – 17th May

The story of world famous Dutch graphic artist MC Escher (1898-1972). Equal parts history, psychology, and psychedelia, Robin Lutz’s entertaining, eyeopening portrait gives us the man through his own words and images.

The Flight Attendant: Season 2 (Sky Max, 9pm) – 26th May

Having survived the hangover from hell in Season 1, Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) is living her best sober life in Los Angeles while moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue. All episodes arrive at once.

Souls: Season 1 (Sky Atlantic) – Date TBC

An original mystery series from Sky Germany. In Stockholm, pregnant pathologist Allie tries everything possible to prevent her beloved husband and pilot Leo from taking a flight. In Berlin, 25-year-old Linn joins a cult whose members are desperate to believe in life after death. And in a hospital in the middle of Germany, Hanna wakes up after a serious car accident and wonders how on earth her 14-year-old son Jacob managed to save them both from drowning in their car. When, a few days after the accident, Jacob suddenly claims to remember a previous life as the pilot of a lost passenger plane, he dramatically tangles the fate of all three women.

Law & Order: Organized Crime: Season 2 (Sky Witness) – Date TBC

The newest edition of the Law & Order series returns to follow the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they work to dismantle New York City’s most vicious and violent illegal enterprises. After taking down Wheatley’s drug empire and discovering his wife’s killer, Det. Stabler must infiltrate a notorious crime family aiming to take over New York City’s cocaine trade.

The Real Manhunter: Season 2 (Sky Crime) – Date TBC

Former Detective Chief Inspector Colin Sutton spent 30 years in the police force, a career that saw him lead many of the most high-profile and successful murder investigations of his generation, and although he’ll forever be associated with the arrest and conviction of serial killer Levi Bellfield and ‘Night Stalker’ Delroy Grant, his career was so much more. In this returning series, Sutton revisits cases he led and explores everything from the crime itself through to the breakthrough moment when the suspect was identified and arrested.

The Mark of a Serial Killer: Season 3 (Sky Crime) – Date TBC

The behaviours and patterns may differ, but some serial killers simply cannot resist leaving a personal mark on each of their heinous crimes. This returning series continue to delve into the minds of these killers.

The Last Letter From Your Lover – 8th May

After finding a series of love letters from the 60s, a journalist starts to explore the truth behind an affair from years past. Felicity Jones and Callum Turner star in the adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ novel.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife – 13th May

Two kids discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and their grandfather’s legacy. Paul Rudd stars in this legacyq=uel.

Halloween Kills – 20th May

The nightmare isn’t over. Minutes after Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie’s basem*nt, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie’s trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes.

Fireheart – 27th May

In 1930s New York, a young woman disguises herself as a man in order to find work as a fireman, while an arsonist lays waste to Broadway’s theatres. Starring Olivia Cooke, Kenneth Branagh and William Shatner.

Dear Evan Hansen – 28th May

Movie adaptation of the award-winning musical about a high school senior’s journey of self-discovery following the suicide of a fellow classmate.
